Note: HSRs can choose their preferred training provider: "All elected HSRs/DHSRs are entitled to attend WorkSafe approved HSR OHS training and choose their course in consultation with their employer" under section 67 of The Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.
Note that enrolments/registrations completed by an employer representative will not meet requirements.
Learning Objectives
The learning objectives of this course will cover:
Duration
The initial course is delivered over five days (35 hours excluding breaks)
Purpose
To exercise powers and rights as an HSR effectively, it is important that HSRs and if applicable any deputy HSRs (DHSRs) receive training. This will provide HSRs with the skills, knowledge and confidence to represent the members of their DWG.
HSRs have an entitlement to attend initial and refresher training if they ask to attend these courses.
Who can participate in this course?
Although the course is designed for HSRs, managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members and anyone with an interest in health and safety could also benefit from attending an HSR training course.
