BeSafe delivers the WorkSafe Approved HSR Initial OHS Training Course, helping you gain the knowledge you need to keep your workplace safe

Course Cost: $990 pp*

*under section 67(4)(b) OHS Act 2004 The Employer must pay the cost associated with HSR Training 


HSR Initial OHS Training Course (5 Day) 

BeSafe Victoria Regional OHS will return with new HSR Training courses by mid-May 2024.

 

The new 2024 course offerings will be reflected on our website by mid-May 2024


Bookings into the first few courses (both five day initial and one day refresher) will be prioritised for those who have been unable to complete their training due to these cancellations.


During this time, we will be restructuring our administration systems and staff to ensure our customers will be receiving the best training experience and HSR support.

Learning Objectives

The learning objectives of this course will cover: 


  • interpret the occupational health and safety legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR
  • identify key parties and their legislative obligations and duties
  • establish representation in the workplace
  • participate in consultation and issue resolution
  • represent designated work group members in any OHS risk management process undertaken by the appropriate duty holder
  • issue a provisional improvement notice (PIN) and direct the cessation of work

Duration

The initial course is delivered over five days (35 hours excluding breaks)


Purpose

To exercise powers and rights as an HSR effectively, it is important that HSRs and if applicable any deputy HSRs (DHSRs) receive training. This will provide HSRs with the skills, knowledge and confidence to represent the members of their DWG.


HSRs have an entitlement to attend initial and refresher training if they ask to attend these courses.

Who can participate in this course?

Although the course is designed for HSRs, managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members and anyone with an interest in health and safety could also benefit from attending an HSR training course.

you can choose your preferred training provider:

"All elected HSRs/DHSRs are entitled to attend WorkSafe approved HSR OHS training and choose their course in consultation with their employer" under section 67 of The Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004"
